Q: How long have you been in business or practicing?
A: I have been practicing locally for 31 years. Altadena Eye Care is a brand new one-man office that opened in mid-December. Our office is a newly renovated space on Acton Road in Vestavia.
Q: Describe your educational and experience background.
A: I graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham’s Birmingham School of Optometry in 1989 and Furman University in 1985. I worked at the Schaeffer Eye Center from 1989 to 2017 when the Schaeffer Eye Center was taken over by MyEyeDr. After three years at MED, I now have a solo practice.
Q: What requests or problems do you offer a solution for?
A: Altadena Eye Care provides primary eye care in a relaxed and comfortable environment. We offer eye health exams and prescriptions for contact lenses and glasses, as well as the latest in contact lens options, and we also specialize in difficult-to-fit patients. I take care of patients with glaucoma, dry eye, diabetes and many other eye diseases.
Q: Please describe the specialty of your practice.
A: Whether you need a prescription that gives you a clear view in a stylish new setting or a professional contact lens review, our goal is to get you to do your best and see.
New treatments are available to slow or stop myopic progression in children. I’m certified for Coopervision’s new MiSight lens, the first contact lens approved by the FDA for myopia control. I also care for patients with glaucoma, dry eye, diabetes and many other eye diseases.
Q: Spring and warmer weather are just around the corner. What seasonal advice would you like to give potential patients?
A: exercise! Please get out and have some activity and sunshine. It’s so important to your mental and physical wellbeing.
Question: What is your measure of success?
A: I want to give each patient the care I would give to my own family. Of course, I want to provide the best possible care, but I also want patients to enjoy their time in my office.
