Employees from Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, under the auspices of Friends of Osinbajo, assisted 500 Nigerians in Ikenne, Ogun state, with naked eye surgeries and corrective actions within 48 hours.
The initiative that sparked joyous emotions among beneficiaries is also expected to move across the country.
In a statement sent to Legit.ng On Wednesday May 26, organizers of the initiative announced that 6,000 eye surgeries would be performed in six geopolitical zones across the country within six weeks.

Legit.ng It was found that many Nigerians continued to receive free consultations, checkups, and other corrective eye care measures in the Ikenne community and beyond.

After the March 8th initiative on Monday May 24th impacted the lives of many Nigerians through various initiatives over the years, it announced a nationwide medical outreach focusing on eye surgeries, general eye treatments and the distribution of free glasses .
Planned public relations work for sites across the country began at Ikenne General Hospital and was overseen by Ogun State Health Commissioner Dr. Tomi Coker, officially announced.

Many beneficiaries who were targeted again after the surgery on the naked eye thanked the organizers and thanked the Vice President and his friends. They found that the impact of the initiative on the Ikenne community and on their individual lives cannot be quantified.
According to the organizers, the goal is to have 6000 eye surgeries performed in phases in the 6 geopolitical zones within 6 weeks of the medical intervention.
The organizers also announced that the second phase of the exercise will take place between Wednesday June 30 and Friday June 2 at Idi Iroko General Hospital, while the final phase of the state’s public relations will be on Monday June 7, will take place and will end on Wednesday June 9th of the same month at Owode Egba General Hospital.
The Ogun Medical Outreach is organized in collaboration with the state government and the National Eye Center.
